Caracalla's thermal baths

One of the most majestic thermal complexes of the imperial era, still well preserved today, the Baths of Caracalla. Built in 216 d.C. on the initiative of Caracalla, the complex was not just for the bathroom, but also for sports, body care, walking and study. A large building with a rectangular plan adorned with mosaics, large marble columns, statues, paving in oriental colored marbles, stuccoes and paintings. Walking through it today you can not help but be struck by its grandeur and relive an atmosphere of the past.

Since 1937 the archaeological complex of Caracalla was used as an open-air theater and was named "People's Theater". During the summer season it still hosts performances, operas and concerts in one of the most evocative scenery in Italy.
